Filippo Ganna Hour Record 2022

Filippo Ganna was touted as the man to break the Hour Record and do so by a convincing margin. Saying it is one thing, doing it is another. On Saturday, October 8, 2022, in the TISSOT Velodrome, Grenchen, Switzerland, the 26-year-old Italian rider, put on a devastating show of power, stamina, endurance and a touch of showmanship to prove the hype correct.

The 56.792km distance he recorded outstripped the 55.548km covered by Dan Bigham, a GB rider and performance engineer also with the INEOS Grenadiers team, at the same velodrome in August.

Following on from delivering the live programme from Alex Dowsett’s attempt on the Hour Record in Mexico in 2021, MC Digital Media was asked to produce the live coverage for INEOS Grenadiers in association with the Swiss company, Jump Productions.

Our lead commentator was Jez Cox, supported by Dr Michael Hutchinson, the acknowledged authority on the Hour Record, who brought colour and insight to audiences around the world watching on INEOS Grenadiers’s social media channels, Eurosport and GCN+. In addition, the Italian state broadcaster took our pictures and added its own commentary from a position alongside us in the velodrome.
