MC Digital Media was founded by Mark Coyle in 2014 after 20 years of working in digital and broadcast media production roles in the BBC and BT Sport.
Most of the 18 years in the BBC was at the forefront of turning BBC News into a leading UK and international digital news organisation. His final role was being part of the management team which delivered an extensive live streaming offering for the BBC’s online coverage of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
As part of BT Sport’s management team formed before launch in 2013, he helped establish BT Sport’s credentials in Premier League football and Premiership rugby. Using his keen interest in motorcycling, he was heavily involved in the acquisition and development of MotoGP as a key element in the channels’ rights portfolio.
Since 2016, MC Digital Media has been engaged by Velon to deliver a transformational fan experience at the highest level of professional cycling across a range of services - digital strategy, live biometric performance data and directing race and behind the scenes videos.
MCDM works with the world’s biggest broadcasters and digital networks to deliver content which captures new audiences and generates revenue for its owners, partners and sponsors.
The company provides strategic consultancy services to a number of organisations seeking to bid for new digital and OTT sports rights in territories around the world.
Media production is at the heart of MCDM’s work. Host broadcaster Century TV engaged the company in autumn 2021, 2022 and 2023 to produce rider interviews and features at the Tour of Britain (images from 2023 interviews below).
In September 2021, the company was asked by Alex Dowsett to run the media, live production and at-venue event organisation for his attempt on the UCI Hour Record timed by TISSOT in Mexico and that experience was put into practice in September and October 2022 when INEOS Grenadiers engaged the company to produce the live coverage of Filippo Ganna’s successful Hour Record attempt in Switzerland.
